The Creative Hotspot

Once upon a time, two bright young stars from Calcutta’s largest advertising agency Clarion (now Bates India) decided to shift to a new orbit.
They were Mira Kakkar and Mrityunjoy Chattejee and their idea was to set up a shop for selling advertising ideas.
So they called their business Thoughtshop. In later years it would become known as Kolkata’s first ‘boutique’ advertising agency.

Initial Years

Over the next decades, Thoughtshop’s incisive and delightful creatives saw the company steadily win over prestigious clients, including multinationals. To manage the growing business, the partnership was reincorporated as a private limited company in 1994. Experts in marketing, media, studio and production joined the team to make Thoughtshop a full service, accredited advertising agency.

Early Recognition

In 1987 Thoughtshop won widespread recognition with the “Say No to Drugs” campaign which successfully raised awareness about the growing problem of addiction. Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi praised the initiative and our work received editorial encomiums from several leading newspapers. This encouraged us to start Thoughtshop Foundation to specialize in social change communication. The Foundation today is an independent non-government organization (NGO) with reputation for pioneering work.
